Stand down, people: Coke Zero is not being discontinued in Ireland

Australians only must suffer this injustice.

A LESSON TO BEVERAGE brands: Do not come between people and their favourite carbonated drinks.

On Friday, The Sun reported that Coke Zero was to be replaced by Coke No Sugar, with Australians and New Zealanders to be the first to try out the new drink.

An article by Inc.com, meanwhile, suggested that Coke No Sugar was already being rolled out in Britain, France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

The news was met with outrage worldwide, with people despairing that they would have to drink – gasp – Diet Coke:

However, we need not worry here in Ireland.

A spokesperson for Coca-Cola told DailyEdge.ie that Coke Zero is being replaced in Australia only:

Coca-Cola Zero Sugar was launched in Ireland in September 2016 and has been extremely popular with consumers. This story refers to the Australian market only and there are no plans to replace Coca-Cola Zero Sugar in Ireland.

Call off the protests! The demon Diet Coke has been kept at bay for at least another while. Enjoy your sugar-free drinks in peace (except you, Australia).
